Situated in the medieval village of Palaia, in one of the most undiscovered and unspoilt parts of Tuscany, Antica Dimora Leones is a charming 19th-century villa with its own gardens.
Immerse yourself in Antica Dimora Leones’s historic atmosphere. Rooms
have been beautifully restored, maintaining their wooden beams, old fireplaces and visible stone work. All are furnished and decorated with antiques and some also come with original frescoes.
Enjoy a typical Tuscan breakfast surrounded by olive groves outside in the pretty gardens, which overlook Palaia’s medieval church. Local cheeses, Tuscan meats and homemade cakes are served at Antica Dimora Leones.
Visiting Tuscany’s picture-book hill towns is easy from here. Explore the beautiful countryside on foot, on horseback or by bike. San Miniato and Volterra are around 30 minutes' drive away.
The thirteen rooms are furnished with period furniture, valuable pieces of antiques among which antique prints and paintings; while on the ceiling and walls, original frescos dating back to the 1800’s can still be admired.

This is one of the most beautiful territories in Tuscany, fascinating during all seasons. By car or on foot, on a horse or bicycle, you can discover uncontaminated woods and reach cottages, villas and farms in the middle of countryside harvested with care and arabesque by vineyards, olive groves and cypress trees. And according to the season, there are wheat and sunflower fields which animate and brighten the wide valley.
This scenery was chosen by the Taviani brothers for filming “La Notte di San Lorenzo” (The Night of San Lorenzo) here, filmed in the Middle Ages quarter of Villa Saletta, near Palaia.
As an alternative to the mass routes, for those who wish to, may take original and historically interesting excursions, here you will be fully immersed into the Tuscany’s beauty, speckled with historical/artistic evidence of noteworthy esteem, the most deep rooted popular traditions and the authenticity of this region’s cuisine.
By public transport:
Take the Pisa - Firenze line as far as Pontedera central station. Then take the bus to Palaia.
The abundant breakfast consisting of cheeses, Tuscan salamis, home made cakes and marmalades, is served in the room attained from the ancient stable or, under the centenarian wisteria in the garden in front of the Romanesque parish Church of S. Martino, positioned amongst olive groves and cypress trees.
Since Antica Dimora Leones does not have a 24-hour reception please let the hotel know what time you expect to arrive.
