Düsseldorf is a prosperous city and an important commercial and cultural centre in the north Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany.
Spread across both banks of the Rhine River, Düsseldorf has a unique modern architectural skyline, with several stainless steel and aluminium buildings gleaming in the sunlight. Its attractive, tree-lined streets contain over 100 art galleries and around 20 museums and theatres.
Justifiably proud of its cultural heritage, Düsseldorf has a distinguished opera house, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and numerous concert halls. The old town, Altstadt, is packed full of restaurants, nightclubs, boutiques and the famous beer taverns, offering visitors to Düsseldorf a wonderful opportunity to relax and have fun.
