This old-established family-run hotel enjoys a very quiet location in the centre of Matrei in East Tyrol, offering a perfect ambience for guests looking for an upper-range 3-star hotel.
The ski area is only a few minutes away, and the ski bus stop is right in front of the hotel. Part of your dream holiday are our individually designed rooms and apartments. A large part of the hotel was reconstructed in 2007. As a national park hotel, we focused on wood and glass as building materials.

Premiere for the „new Hinteregger“ - the old cinema, part of our main building, has also turned into a hotel. For the joy and relaxation of people, in days gone by as well as today. Like backdrops of a movie, the old walls were integrated into modern design. Surprising impressions from outside and inside attract the attention of the guest. A pure and modern building blending into its natural surroundings. A candid landscape of wild, natural beauty.
Highly sought-after by film directors who keep coming back, as Matrei offers them the ideal setting for their precise concepts. Film directors carrying scripts of famous movies, followed by well-known actors. Some of them stay at “the Hinteregger”. From now on maybe suitably in the old cinema.

Flowering meadows, streams of drinking-water quality, pastures with animals that all carry a name, honest and hearty people. The Hohe Tauern National Park exists because of this close connection between nature and man that has been maintained in this area for many centuries. With 1,800 km² it is by far the largest nature reserve in the entire Alps. Because of its great variety of diverse habitats, it is unique in the entire world.
Like love also cooking needs great passion. We work with our regional products with devotion. Home-made bread, fruits and vegetables from our own garden and meat from nature-orientated animal husbandry. All from our own farm. “Rooted to the soil” and traditional - this is our cuisine. No extravagances regarding the ingredients. Nothing is used that had to travel too far. Everything is still fresh. Nevertheless, the variety leaves nothing to be desired. Our chef is the director, fresh products are his actors, old pots his extras. Your job is to enjoy, relax and applaud.
Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later, the total price of the reservation will be charged.
Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 6 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children from 6 to 12 years are charged 60 % of the room stay per night for extra beds.
All children from 12 to 14 years are charged 80 % of the room stay per night for extra beds.
One child under 2 years stays free of charge in a baby cot.
Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.
Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged.
VAT and city/tourist taxes: 10 % VAT is included.

Internet: Internet via modem is available in the business centre and charges are applicable.
Meal Plan: Buffet breakfast is included in the room rate.
